OUR MISSION

Our mission is to ensure that differently-abled individuals achieve their fullest potential by supporting families with resources, training, coaching, and community.

When families are given timely access to the necessary tools to support their loved ones, there is no limit to how much they can achieve.

My Story

I know what it's like to be in your shoes. The struggle started before I even received an official diagnosis for my son. I struggled with not understanding his differences. I struggled with understanding his behaviors. I struggled with acceptance. I struggled emotionally. I struggled physically. I struggled socially. Yes, of course, I was told where to get speech & language therapy. Yes, I was told who to contact for special needs preschool. But there was so much more to it than meets the eye. My child was different but no one told me that my life would be completely different forever. There was no warning, no introduction, no prelude, nothing...Just a diagnosis and a referral for my son to get therapy.

The life I expected was not the life that I had. I wasn't taught about my child's diagnosis, what it meant for my child, how he would learn, or what it would mean for him, for me, or for my family. No one explained that family vacations with the kids would look different, and would be different. No one told me that his sensory issues would change where we could go and what we could do. There were so many nuances that no one ever told me about and I had no one to turn to for questions, answers, or support. The speech therapist told me about receptive and expressive strategies. The occupational therapist told me how to help him with his motor skills. But no one told me about all of the little things that had a huge impact on his life and the life of everyone in our family. I was in the dark. It was so frustrating.

The struggle was so real! It took over a decade to just get my bearings and settle into the reality of being the mother of a differently-abled child and this is why I started Serva Solutions to help families so they don't have to struggle as I did.

Why We Do It

There is nothing easy about being the parent of a child who is differently-abled. You will notice that I rarely use the word disabled. That is because we must zero in on our loved ones' abilities versus their inabilities. Now that I I've said that, let me move on.

I created Serva Solutions to meet the needs of families of differently-abled individuals. The special needs journey can be a lonely road. Family and friends mean well, but they just don't understand. But I do. Serva Solutions does. We know you need a community. A community to help you with all the things that most people don't have to think about. Like, who do you go to for comprehensive information about resources if you want to move to another state? Who do you contact if you can't find a provider to complete a full evaluation for your differently-abled child who is 30 years old and has Medicaid? Who can give you expert advice about what to do if your child is being bullied at school and the school is not doing anything and you can't afford a lawyer and you don't have time for red tape? Where can you go to build relationships with other parents who have similar challenges?

These are a few of the countless reasons that we do it. Serva Solutions is here to serve families to ensure that all of their needs are met on this journey. We want to ensure that no one is lost in the special needs matrix.
